Ontario's Greenbelt is an important source of clean air and clean water for millions of people in Southern Ontario. It protects important foodlands while also providing important habitat for wildlife. As a wide belt of green space around some of the most built up areas of our province, it provides critical habitat linkages for wild species and a refuge from urban life for people.
Greenbelt Naturally, the first booklet in our series looks at the valuable – and often irreplaceable – natural services provided by the Greenbelt. There is also more information available here about services like protecting clean water sources, healthy lands, and clean air and what you can do to protect natural areas.
